Statue of a [Sumerian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sumerians/) male worshiper from the hoard in Nintu [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) V at Khafajah (ancient Tutub), [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), Iraq. [Early Dynastic](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Early_Dynastic/) period, 2600-2400 BCE. Excavated by the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago in the 1930s, 8th season. There is bitumen on the hair and beard. The eyes were made of a shell while the pupils were made of lapis lazuli. On display at the Iraq Museum in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq.
