This is a votive statuette of a male [Sumerian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sumerians/) worshiper from the Square [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of [Abu](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Abu/) at Tell Asmar (ancient Eshnunna, [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), Iraq), [Early Dynastic](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Early_Dynastic/) III, 2600-2400 BCE. Excavated by the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago in the 1933-1934 season. Part of the so-called "Tell Asmar Hoard"; this is the only kneeling and nude figure in the Hoard. There are traces of repairs in antiquity. Tell Asmar Hoard is composed of 12 statuettes; seven are on display at the Sumerian Gallery of the Iraq Museum in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq.
