## Image Caption

Pages from an [illuminated manuscript](https://www.worldhistory.org/Illuminated_Manuscripts/) of the Romaunt of the Rose, c. 1440 - 1450 CE. This poem is thought to have been translated by [Geoffrey Chaucer](https://www.worldhistory.org/Geoffrey_Chaucer/) (1343 - 1400 CE) from an earlier 13th Century CE French composition. This manuscript, referred to as MS Hunter 409, is part of the Special Collections of the University of Glasgow.
