## Image Caption

This is the newly discovered Tablet II of the Epic of [Gilgamesh](https://www.worldhistory.org/gilgamesh/). The upper surface is the obverse. The image was intentionally shot focusing on the center because the tablet has not been published yet. The [cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/) text has been transliterated by Professor Farouk Al-Rawi and an article will be published by him soon. The cuneiform inscription indicates that the tablet belongs to the Old-Babylonian version of the Epic. Circa 1800 BCE. Not on display. Exclusive image, never-before-seen. It is in the Sulaymaniyah Museum, Iraqi Kurdistan. Acquisition number T-7544. Shot on April 7, 2019.
