Overview of the ruins at Alacahöyük, the site of a [Neolithic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Neolithic/) and [Hittite](https://www.worldhistory.org/hittite/) settlement in central [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/). Alacahöyük was the centre of the flourishing Hattian [culture](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/culture/) during the [Bronze Age](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Bronze_Age/). It was later occupied by the [Hittites](https://www.worldhistory.org/hittite/) who used the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) as their first capital before moving over to Hattusa. The site is located in Alaca, northeast of Hattusa.
