This relief depicts a group of Assyrian archers attacking an enemy (not shown here). A soldier holding a large and long shield stands before them in order to protect the archers. This alabaster bas-relief is the lower register of two; the upper one is very damaged and shows an Assyrian war chariot (not shown here). From the Royal Palace of Sargon II at Khorsabad, in modern-day Nineveh Governorate, Iraq. Circa 710 BCE. On display at Room X of the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad, Republic of Iraq.
