This building was constructed and added to the original 2-story building of the Iraq Museum between 2012-2013 CE. This is where the visitors enter the museum, do the security check, keep their belongings inside lockable boxes, and buy tickets. A large statue of [Nabu](https://www.worldhistory.org/Nabu/), the [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) of wisdom, scribes, and literacy stands before the facade. The statue was found in the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of [Nimrud](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kalhu/) (in modern-day [Nineveh](https://www.worldhistory.org/nineveh/) Governorate, Iraq). It dates back to the 8th century BCE. Visitors will first see Nabu and then enter the Museum. Although officially, the name if the museum is the National Museum of Iraq (Arabic: المتحف الوطني العراقي), the banner on the facade reads "Iraq Museum" (Arabic: المتحف العراقي). The Museum is adjacent to the Iraqi General Directorate of Antiquities, within the same complex.
