## Image Caption

Statue of Julia Soaemias Bassiana (180 – March 11, 222 CE), a Syrian noblewoman and the mother of [Roman emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Emperor/) [Elagabalus](https://www.worldhistory.org/Elagabalus/) who ruled over the [Roman Empire](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Empire/) during her son's reign (218 to 222 CE). The statue was found in Perge and is now in the Antalya Museum in [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/).
