When I bought this, I thought it was going to be an actual book. This is just a printed out copy. It is extremely low quality. The cover is a photo of a book and it’s distorted. The spine doesn’t have the name of the book or the author. I wanted to buy these books for my sons, because we are Pawnee. I was hoping that the boys could keep them for posterity. I am extremely unsatisfied with the quality of this book.

So I have always been interested in First Nations cultures, and only really knew of the Pawnee from watching Dances with Wolves. Well this book was great in that it covered their Folklore, culture, and other information that gave me a good idea of who the Pawnee really were. This book is, of course, dated, however I still found it to be engaging and was able to get into what I was reading.

Grinnell is the best at dictating these stories as translating them into English. Book was defined as good-acceptable. Was indeed fact in description.

This was the first masterpiece of George Bird Grinnell, the famous plains indian historian. this book can be easily divided into two parts:the first part contains the hero stories and folktales, as told around the campfires of the Pawnees in the old days. To study their tales is a good method to understand the indian ways, by Grinnell's mind. The second part is called Notes on the Pawnee People by the author. It is a short and convenient introduction to Pawnee histry , culture, and religion.A basic study on this proud plains nation.
