extremely detailed and well written book dating back to 1925. the reprint is of good quality, easy to read. The photographs of reenactors are obviously dated, black and white, poor quality but still very useful. The amount of details on togas is amazing. The descriptions quite clear. This is a must for anybody interested in this aspect of ancient Roman life and particularly for reenactors. The togas are described in all the variations throughout the almost 1,000 year of the roman civilization.

This book goes into the total history of the Toga-its history and look throughout history-included are many stories of the Romans who wore the Toga. The many pictures in the book show how the Toga changed through out history. My one negative point about the book is that even though it gives many pictures and ideas on how the Toga was worn and looked when the Romans wore the different types it does not give the exact dimensions of the different types of Togas.
